Zion Williamson’s tryout with the New Orleans Pelicans didn’t go as planned, as the struggling franchise didn’t see their gamble with the first overall pick.
Although Williamson is pure entertainment and a winning player when healthy and on the floor, the former Duke star is rarely on the floor, as injury issues continue to hold him back from being the iconic player the team thought he would be.
With Williamson missing most of the season again last year and dealing with some general off-field drama recently, the Pelicans may finally be ready to part ways with the star forward, as he has begun to be mentioned in trade rumours.
The Pelicans are rumored to be interested in trading in the upcoming 2023 NBA draft to land Scott Henderson, and that could mean a breakup with Williamson, which Chris Broussard thinks is a shame, but if it’s Michael Jordan, he definitely wants him to the Charlotte Hornets, via First Things First.
“I am not giving up on Zion yet [if I’m New Orleans]. … If I’m Michael Jordan in Charlotte, I want him.”

With the Hornets sitting bottom again after another forgettable season, Charlotte needs to do something drastic, especially if Jordan intends to sell the team.
If the Hornets acquire Williamson, the value of the Hornets franchise will almost skyrocket, with plenty of suitors coming out of the woodwork to throw in a try.
As for the Pelicans, it’s probably time to move on from Williamson, as they can’t afford to waste another season with their talented roster waiting for him to return and stay healthy and in shape.
New Orleans should make a deal to get Henderson, who could be the perfect addition alongside Brandon Ingram.
