Cleveland Cavaliers quarterback Luke Travers has signed a three-year contract with Australian NBL club Melbourne United. It is unknown if the deal includes a departure from the NBA, but Travers plans to play with Cleveland in the 2023 Summer Basketball League in Las Vegas.
Travers was drafted by Cleveland with the 26th pick in the second round of the 2022 NBA Draft. The 21-year-old striker was chosen on the understanding that he could stay abroad for at least another two to three seasons.
Travers played the first four seasons of his professional career with the Perth Wildcats. In 32 games last season, the versatile 6-foot-7 forward averaged 9.7 points, 5.6 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.2 steals per game.
