Guildford Flames have confirmed that captain Brett Ferguson will return to the club on a two-year contract that will mark her fifth and sixth seasons in Surrey. Last time out, the 33-year-old finished second in team scoring with 23 goals and 76 points, as well as being voted second-best in the league.
In his 307 career starts for the Flames, the Canadian forward has scored 88 goals and 292 points and has been on hand since the club entered the Elite League at the start of the 2017/18 season.
Coach Paul Dixon explained: “Brett has been the heart and soul of the club since his arrival and we couldn’t think of a better person to start the news of our roster building.”
“Brett is obviously good in a lot of statistical categories as a guy who is always among our points leaders, but he brings a work ethic and desire that just helps set the tone for the rest of the guys in the dressing room.
“He’ll do what he thinks is necessary to help win hockey games and he’ll do it with a healthy range of emotional energy. The guys can’t help but try to follow his lead and that makes us a better team. We’re glad he’s back and that we’ve been able to lock him up for the next couple of seasons.”
