The Bulls Star and his wife have done some new digs in the OC
Reports indicate that Zach LaVine, a Chicago Bulls All-Star, and former Minnesota Timberwolves player, is the mystery buyer behind the recent $34 million purchase of a property in Newport Coast, Orange County. Speculation circulated about the identity of the buyer, and LaVine seemed to fit the bill. Located in the prestigious Pelican Crest community, the property is now considered the most expensive property ever sold in the area, joining the ranks of other notable residents such as Vanessa Bryant and Paul Merage, inventor of Hot Pockets.
LaVine swooped in the wake of a broken warranty deal
The home was listed in March and immediately attracted the attention of qualified buyers, despite the slowdown in the real estate market. Within the first two weeks of being on the market, three offers appeared, and the sellers initially accepted an offer closer to the asking price of $40 million. However, when that guarantee fell through, they turned to LaVine’s back-up offer of $34 million.
It’s no surprise that LaVine is in the market for a new mansion, considering his recent sale of a similar but smaller property in the nearby community of Crystal Cove. In addition, he has put his home in a Washington state suburb for sale. The Pelican Crest residence, described as “timeless” and “irreplaceable,” was built in 2010. Two years ago, it sold for $14.7 million to Rob and Amy Doc, who then undertook an extensive renovation to give the Tuscan-style mansion a clean look. The house sits behind gates at the end of a cul-de-sac on a 0.79-acre lot, which is plenty for the neighborhood.
Luxurious amenities are plentiful
LaVine and his wife, Hunter, will have access to many luxurious amenities in their new mansion, including a state-of-the-art gym, infrared sauna, wine cellar, games room, golf simulator, and gourmet kitchen with two marble islands. . The master suite has a large Yves Saint Laurent walk-in closet. The interiors are large and filled with natural light thanks to the retractable glass doors. However, the property’s most amazing feature is its pancake-shaped plot of land, which offers stunning southwest-facing views of the Pacific Ocean and unobstructed vistas of sunrise and sunset. Enjoying these views comes at a cost, as LaVine will also be responsible for her monthly HOA dues of $843.
The listing was held by Abby Lim of Circa Properties, and Paul Daftarian of Luxe Real Estate represented the buyer. With this new acquisition, LaVine joins the ranks of affluent residents in the Pelican Crest community, where luxury living and stunning views are the norm.
