While most of the attention in the NBA’s Rookie of the Year class is centered on Victor Wimpanyama and, to a lesser extent, Scott Henderson, the Charlotte Hornets have a good figure in Brandon Miller.
The 6-foot-9 forward made a solid debut in Monday’s Summer League at the California Classic with 18 points, though he also committed five turnovers.
But his second game on Wednesday was difficult, as he had more (eight) fouls than (six points) in 28 minutes.

Miller grabbed seven assists, but had four turnovers.
Last season, as a member of the University of Alabama Crimson Tide, he averaged 18.8 points and 8.2 rebounds a game while shooting 38.4 percent from 3-point range.
He’s also believed to have a lot of defensive potential as well, putting up 0.9 steals and 0.9 blocks per contest in his only season at Alabama.
If Miller ends up achieving the NBA All-Star level of production and value, he would give the Hornets a nice duo to build with and LaMelo Ball.
Ball averaged 23.3 points, 6.4 rebounds and 8.4 assists a game during the 2022-23 campaign and has reportedly just agreed to a five-year contract extension that could be worth up to $260 million.
The Hornets have been a laughing stock for most of their existence, having only made the playoffs three times since their formation in 2004, and haven’t been there since the 2015-16 season.
Last season, they only won 27 games and had the second worst record in the Eastern Conference.
