Top prospect from Providence Chris Dunn had his eyes glued to his iPhone while the Boston Celtics were on the clock with the #3 pick during the 2016 NBA Draft. Eagerly awaiting Adam Silver’s announcement, he anxiously raised his head aimlessly, trying to speculate. What was escalating over time. Dunn’s Boston representatives reported the guard’s diminutive interest in working for the franchise and wearing the green, acknowledging their depth in the backcourt.
The Celtics acquired Jaylen Brown, and Dunn went to Minnesota in the fifth. The rest is history. Fast forward seven years. Part of a highly anticipated blockbuster, Dan seemed easily in the past, underrated by multiple teams.
The 29-year-old also picked up some injuries on the trip, but Dan soon became a day laborer himself. The former head of basketball operations for the Celtics, Danny Ange, continued to keep a close eye on the guard. Now at Utah, he rewarded Dan with a guaranteed contract for the next season after impressing in his Jazz experience. With his fifth NBA team, the Connecticut native will likely have a permanent home.
Out of the league for nearly a year, the veteran has made a comeback in impressive fashion as the pretty lights in Utah.
Dan’s 19 points, 14 assists, eight rebounds and three steals as the +20 team led the team in minutes last Saturday speaks for itself.
