The 2023–23 Minnesota Timberwolves season was a lot of things, but it wasn’t boring. They struggled early on, bounced back well, and then imploded during the last game of the regular season. As a result, it comes as no surprise that the Timberwolves are considering a transfer from All-Star big man Karl-Anthony Towns, reports Bleacher Reports Eric Pincus.
After the disastrous trade of Rudy Gobert and the emergence of All-Star Anthony Edwards, aged just 21, it seemed inevitable that Minnesota would eventually look to move Cities. Even though he can’t officially be transferred until July 7, 2023, after signing a four-year, $224 million extension, the next NBA draft may be the best time for the Timberwolves to agree to trade him.
After all, there are many teams who could chomp down a bit to land a superstar like Towns, especially with him on a long-term contract. Assuming Minnesota is actively looking to move cities, they may hope to reverse Joubert’s trade after they overpaid him.
This would be unlikely, although a potential bidding war could increase the commercial return, resulting in a similar number of promising young players and a large number of selections for the cities. With that said, let’s take a look at 7 teams who could trade for Towns, starting with one they could be looking to leverage on their significant assets to get him.
