Chris Paul was sent to the Washington Wizards in a trade for Bradley Beal but that may not be his final landing spot. Here’s where he could play next year.
Twelve-time All-Star and five-time assist champion Chris Paul has been part of one of the biggest signings so far this offseason. The trade sent Paul, Landry Chement, several second-round picks and multiple pick trades to the Washington Wizards for Bradley Bell.
Even though Paul is entering his 19th season at the age of 38, he still has plenty in the tank. He still averaged 8.9 assists per game which was good enough for fourth in the league. Paul helped the Suns get to the second round of the playoffs and if it wasn’t for his Game 2 injury, the Suns might have a shot at winning.
The Wizards will likely try to buy out Chris Paul’s massive contract, allowing Paul to go wherever he wants. He’ll likely want to go to a team where he can win a championship, so here are his top three options.
Final touchdown points for Chris Paul: 3. Los Angeles Clippers
The Los Angeles Clippers have been very close to winning the championship the past four seasons, but have fallen short every time. The biggest reason the Clippers can’t win is injury. Kawhi Leonard suffered an ACL tear in the 2021 playoffs, MCL tear this playoffs, Paul George injured.
With that, the Clippers also lost a true point guard. They messed with Patrick Beverly, Rajon Rondo, Reggie Jackson, and even Russell Westbrook. None of them, at the time they played the Clippers, were a true guard. Kawhi Leonard has had tremendous success playing with great point guards like Tony Parker and Kyle Lowry.
Chris Paul must have been very intrigued by the Clippers because they were so close to winning it all. Paul is just the base the Clippers need. He’s a perfect fit, too, because he’s very knowledgeable about the Clippers Foundation. He played there for six seasons so he wouldn’t have to adjust much to living in Los Angeles.
Paul has an opportunity to achieve a goal he set out to achieve over a decade ago and win the Los Angeles Clippers championship.
