The 76ers were able to win Game 4 against the Celtics. This game went into overtime and the 76ers needed a standout performance from James Harden.
In game four, the Philadelphia 76ers defeated the Boston Celtics, 116-115. This was one of the best playoff games this season, especially after the game was heading into overtime in Philly. James Harden finished with 42 points and Embiid finished with 34 points.
The 76ers were able to win the game thanks to Harden’s mastery and 3-pointer late on, but also due to some contributions from the bench. They nearly blew their lead during the fourth quarter but Harden was able to avoid letting the series lead 3-1 for the Celtics.
3 players who performed massively with 76 in Game 4:
3. George Niang
The third player on this list is hard to find. Therese Maxi did not have a great night shooting and Harris failed to feature on the night. Despite the low quality of Niang’s minutes played (19), the player was able to create distance between the Sixers in this game.
He made a pair of 3-pointers and the distance between him, Harden and Embiid helped. PJ Tucker would be a good pick here because And-1 is behind in regulation, but rewarding one play for an article about the entire game just doesn’t make sense, so we’re going with Niang.
2. Joel Embiid
Joel Embiid ended up with 34 points on 42 percent shooting from the floor. In addition, he ended up with 13 rebounds. He excelled greatly in the first half of the game, doing most of his damage to help build the 76ers’ lead. It was quieter in the second, but Harden was able to come up and pick up the slack.
Joel Embiid fought mightily in the last quarter of this game – Al Horford’s situation clamps on him. However, MVP was able to put a monster night out of the ground. Along with the fourth, dominate the paint in this game.
1. James Harden
James Harden ended up with 42 points on 69 percent shooting from the floor. Beards had a great off the floor night that also included 9 assists and 8 rebounds. During the second half, Embiid was struggling and Harden needed to put in a big performance. He’s made every big play and has assisted with 76 saves in the series.
Harden hit the game-winning shot on a pass from Embiid. He also hit the floater to set this game in overtime. Harden was the best player on the court after struggling in the previous two games in the series. He was hot from the 3rd, dominating when the 76ers needed him and clearly the MVP of Game 4.
