Detroit Pistons Won’t Return Next Season: 3. Killian Hayes
Given Kidd’s injury, Killian’s role increased last season. The 21-year-old has shown ability, proving that a bright future in this league is possible. However, Killian’s future with Detroit will not be spent. Killian was the worst player in the NBA last season and is now entering the final year of his contract.
Looks like the Pistons have tried to let Killian play through it. However, new expectations come with a new coach. In his third season in the NBA, the former seventh pick averaged just 8.4 points, 5.3 assists, and 3.0 rebounds. Those conservative numbers, combined with Cade Cunningham’s return plan, make it in the best interest of the team to ship Killian elsewhere this summer.
