heights? Well, that’s another story.
Romero (15-6) is scheduled to face Vadim Nemkov for the Bellator Light Heavyweight Championship on Friday at Bellator 297 in Chicago, Illinois. With the promotional push in full swing, a press conference was held on Wednesday at Willis Skydeck TowerAll the way up to the 99th floor.
Who wasn’t there? Romero. Romero’s fear of heights was noted by Shel Sonnen, who played the MC.

Romero appeared via a Zoom video conference, fielding a question about fighting in the later rounds of the fight at the age of 46 – something that didn’t seem to concern him. It’s certainly not the way the heights look that worries Cuban, who admitted that it’s the tall buildings that intimidate a professional fighter.
“Getting into this building is a battle I know I’m not going to win,” Romero said. “I wouldn’t go there even if my kids were there. And I wouldn’t even get on a Ferris wheel with my kids.”
There will be no Ferris wheels, no hikes at all coming Friday at Wintrust Arena, and luckily for Romero. Instead, just a serious Russian heavyweight champ standing in Yoel Romero’s path to eventual gold medal.
