So far, there has been little progress in Damian Lillard’s trading talks following the star’s request to be traded. NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski reports that the Trail Blazers weren’t happy with what the Heat offered — Lillard’s chosen destination.
“Right now, Portland is looking at what Miami has, and it’s not what they think a player’s return to status should be,” Woog said in an interview with NBA Today. “In their minds, the value of Damian Lillard — two future first-round picks, some trades, Tyler Hero is the best player available in that deal.
“They don’t want Tyler Herro, they’re going to need a third team to lead him and then send them the assets. But the way Portland looks at it, it’s not going to be enough for what they want for Damian Lillard.”
According to Lognarowski, Portland’s next step is for general manager Joe Cronin to travel to Las Vegas and have personal conversations with the other general managers.
“I think Joe Cronin, Blazers GM, to get to Vegas, sit down with other GMs face to face and have those kind of conversations, I think that’s productive. I think that’s the next step in this,” he said.
