How will you celebrate?
How do you celebrate having doubts? questions. There were many. Will she win again, after not doing so for four years, four months, and 29 days? Nobody counts. Have you been thinning a lot? Were you also “commercial”? Was I so cool? were you well?
How will you celebrate after the Ascension? The last year or so has been a trend, right? Back to swing trainer/whisperer/legend Butch Harmon. Some modifications here and there. Then magic. Seven top 10s this year. Three of them have come since the end of May. It gets really good here. Especially that recent pairing in the final round at the US Open, which although things didn’t pan out, gave a hint.
How will you celebrate after Sunday? You’re leading after 54 holes in the Rocket Mortgage Classic. Then I birdied 3 at the Detroit Golf Club. Then 5. Then 7. I was up. Then nothing. There have been some unfortunate breaks. On the 12th, I found two straight bunkers. On the 14th and 15th, you missed the shortcuts. On the 16th and 17th, you missed the tee lane on foot. On the 18th, a bullet hit.
Then I stuffed an iron to 3 feet.
And you made it.
And you made a playoff.
Where you splash your tee just right, among hordes of fans, only to maneuver the ball out to 11 feet.
Where it proceeded to hole left to the fighter.
And you win.
You. had won.
How are you going to celebrate after all that?
Rickie Fowler, take it away.
For less than a second, he remained bent over his bat. Then he stood tall. Then came the moment to put them on labels. He crossed his arms over the head of his putter. He looked up, his neck slightly crooked. exhalation. I smile. If “Damn, isn’t that good” were a picture, this would be the picture.
His bag, Ricky Romano, gushed over for a hug. They slapped their hands. They hugged again. He jokingly told him to take the ball out of the cup. Then Fowler took off his orange hat and embraced partners Colin Morikawa and Adam Hadwin.
there is more.
They interview the winner on TV, you know.
Fowler held his daughter, Maya, in custody. It wasn’t the last time he won, you know. by his wife, Allison. was ready. CBS’ Amanda Renner asked one question.
“Ricky, it’s been four years and four months since that victory. So many tough times. A perfect kid in between. What does this mean to you?”
First, golf.
“It’s really hard to put it all into words. Honestly, a lot of good stuff this year. I’ve been playing some really good golf so I knew it was just a matter of time for the gameplay.”
Then some emotion.
And mother [his voice crackled] And yes, I had a tough weekend where I had the chance. US Open, you didn’t make it. [He paused. He looked at Mya.] But at the end of the day, I just pick it up and hang out with my wife, Mia. [He smiled.]”
Then twelve words. If you want to know why Fowler is loved and why this win seems so cool to so many people, well, there you go.
“Yes, winning is great, but there is so much more to life than that.”
How will you celebrate?
thus.
