There are now two Walker brothers fighting under the UFC banner, but we’ll have to see if the last to join the promotion take out the “worm.”
Walter Walker (11-0), the brother of UFC light heavyweight Johnnie Walker, has booked his debut for the promotion, taking on Jake Collier (13-9) in a heavyweight bout at the Fight Night event on September 23, 2023.
The Walker brothers announced the news on social media on Monday.
Walter Walker will enter the fray after defeating UFC and PFL veteran Alex Nicholson at Titan FC 82, which saw him regain the Titan FC Heavyweight Championship. In one fight earlier, he captured another regional title, this one in Russia, and won the MMA Heavyweight Championship.
Collier, meanwhile, is a former middleweight turned heavyweight who is looking to pull out of a three-fight skid in the bout. He’s dropped fights with Andrei Arlovski, Chris Barnett, and most recently, Martin Buday in his final slice. Collier’s last win came performing the night’s earning effort against Chase Sherman in January 2022. The 34-year-old submitted Sherman via a rear choke.
No location, venue, or broadcast plan has been announced for the UFC event on September 23, 2023. The following matches are included with the card:
- Cody Durden vs. Bruno Silva
- Jake Collier vs. Walter Walker
