The Ultimate Fighting Championship returns to us today, March 2, 2024, for UFC Vegas 87, going down live from the UFC Apex in Enterprise, Nevada.
Headlining the event is a heavyweight bout between no. 12 ranked Jairzinho Rozenstruik (13-5) and fellow dangerous finisher Shamil Gaziev (12-0).
Co-headlining the event was a light-heavyweight affair between Brazil’s Vitor Petrino (11-0) and Australia’s Tyson Pedro (10-5).
Petrino had gone a perfect 3-0 thus far into his promotional tenure, coming in off stunning back-to-back finishes, while Pedro had gone 3-1 since returning to the sport in 2022 following a near four-year hiatus.

Official Result: Vitor Petrino def. Tyson Pedro via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28)
Pedro landed a solid leg kick about one minute into the contest, Petrino returning fire with one of his own shortly following. Petrino also lands a good jab in the first, though each man was weary of the others power with not much going on in the opening round.
Petrino shot in on a takedown early in the second, unable to secure it as they went back to striking range midway through the round. Again, much like the first, there wasn’t a lot going on in the middle stretch. Pedro fought timid and Petrino missed on most of his strike attempts.
Petrino came alive and landed a couple hard jabs as the third and final round began, finally securing a big takedown about 90 seconds in. He continued to maul Pedro for the remainder of the bout, ending on top attempting an arm-triangle choke.
Tyson Pedro at one point had so much hype around his name; having stopped both Khalil Rountree and Paul Craig in his first two promotional appearances. He’d then go 1-3 over his next four before taking his extended break from the sport, going 3-2 since returning at UFC Vegas 52 in April of 2022.
26-year-old stud Vitor Petrino on the other hand remains undefeated with a lackluster, but impressive win over a solid vet today at UFC Vegas 87.
