Current UFC Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones and former title holder Francis Ngannou exchanged words during tonight’s PFL event in Atlanta.
Today was just a month ago when news broke that “The Predator” had found a new home under the banner of the PFL (Professional Fighters League).
Francis Ngannou had, of course, parted ways with the UFC in January of this year, after being unable to come to terms on a new contract with the world’s leading MMA promotion.
The PFA eventually persuaded Ngannou to join their organization by offering the 36-year-old ‘stock and leadership’ roles within their company, including a seat on the promotion’s Athletes’ Advisory Board as well as a role as President of PFL Africa. The agreement also allows Francis Ngannou to search for his boxing matches.
Jon Jones was of course previously linked with a fight with ‘The Predator’ and expressed his displeasure with Ngannou’s decision to sign with the PFL previously Twitter.
“You call yourself the worst guy on the planet from across the street, who does? Very funny” – Jones tweeted on May 16.
Bones of course went on to fight Cyryl Gane for the vacant heavyweight title at UFC 285 and made quick work of the Frenchman – picking up a first round win.
The PFL held a regular season event this evening in Atlanta, and Jon Jones and Francis Ngannou were on hand for the fight card.
Ngannou was there for promotional purposes, while Jones was boxing with his friend and colleague Maurice Greene.
While it wasn’t certain that “Predator” and “Bones” would cross paths, MMA fans got their wish as the heavyweight bosses came face to face and exchanged words.

As you can hear in the second video, John Jones told Francis Nganu: “You know you don’t want no smoke.”.
“The Predator” responded by pointing out that “Bones” is the one who really doesn’t want to smoke.
Whether or not fight fans will be treated to a Jones vs. Ngannou fight remains to be seen. Still, tonight’s showdown was a thrill.
