For every golfer, it is important to understand the impact of pace on greens. Sure, you might struggle to read the break like the pros do, but if you have a smooth touch with the flat stick, you’ll always give yourself a chance in fewer strokes.
As someone who has really struggled with my condition lately – and no, it’s not that I’m using a model putter from the 1960’s; As far as I want to blame it – I didn’t seem to be able to piece together any consistency.
I often let my shots go too short, putting pressure on myself to save even by making 3 footers; which isn’t always the easiest.
To help players like me kick the habit, GOLF Top 100 Teacher Trillium Rose has a simple workout to try – and all you need are a handful of tees to get started.
As Rose’s Instagram post above demonstrates, the six-point tee is picture perfect for players looking to master their shooting speed.
All you have to do is put it on top of the ball as you normally would, aligning the three skate points with your front and back foot. Make sure the second tee on both sides is in the middle of each foot, and space it out evenly.
Next, grab some golf balls and start working on your passes, getting to know the short and long putts – which are highlighted in blue and yellow in the image above. By returning the paddle to each position and then following through on the same mark, you will begin to gauge distance control.
So instead of changing your grip or setup, or going out and buying a new racket on the market, just use the practice from Rose Instagram Post as a way to help improve your rendering speed. Come close now and start saving some hits on your scorecard!
