LOS ANGELES – A major tournament played on the West Coast means primetime golf on the East Coast.
The third round of the 123rd US Open ended at Los Angeles Country Club at 12:33 PM EST on Saturday. Commander Rickey Fowler, trying to win his first major championship, didn’t start the third round until 6:40 PM ET. Fowler and Windham Clark, who are back by one hit, may not finish their runs until 11 p.m. ET.
There is an impressive group of contenders behind Fowler – the under-10s after 36 holes – including Xander Schauffele (8-under), Rory McIlroy (8-under), Harris English (7-under), Dustin Johnson (6-under), Scotty Scheffler (5 under) and Cameron Smith (4 under).
With the northern cycle picking up speed and steady, it could be a long day in Los Angeles, get your coffee and popcorn.
