The beauty of golf is that every round is different. Even when you play your home tournament five times in a row in two weeks, the grass may be wetter, the greens may be slower, and the weather may not be as perfect as it was the day before.
This is where preparation comes into play, because there are some controls and uncontrollable elements that you need to understand in order to fire a low round.
This is explained by Michael Hunt of Top 100 GOLF Teachers in the video below. the key? It’s all about the right mindset.
Most golfers have probably played a round where the expected expectations did not go as planned. Instead of clouds with little chance of rain, it has turned into a semi-monsoon, leaving you and your play partners with another factor to adapt to.
While it’s hard to adapt quickly, Hunt says every player must learn to accept the uncontrollable things in golf.
“The uncontrollable weather is the weather — it can be windy, it can be rainy, it can be hot or cold,” Hunt says. “The conditions on the golf course—the greens can be very fast or they can be slow…these are all things you can’t control.”
This is where preparation plays a huge role. With the right mindset, Hunt says, a golfer can block out situations that can negatively affect his scorecard.
“If you know the conditions are going to be tough and there will be a lot of wind, you should practice hitting wind blows. If it is going to rain, you should practice wearing a rain jacket and rain gloves.”

“You have to have the mentality that you’re going to get into it [says]You will control what you can, and accept what you cannot.
