UFC’s beloved play-by-play man, Jon Anik, went toe-to-toe with his chair during a recent podcast appearance, and things didn’t go his way. Or did you?
Speaking with ‘Big Gun’ Brian Petrie and former UFC star Kenny Florian to discuss the upcoming UFC Jacksonville card, Jon Anik sat in his chair. Seconds later, he was on the floor after the chair bent under pressure faster than Cyril Jane faced Jon Jones.
We’ll go ahead and score that 10-9 in favor of the chair.
Fans react to John Annick’s stumble
John Annick was clearly a good sport about the blunder, and he even insisted that the incident be kept as part of the full podcast. Needless to say, MMA fans were left laughing hysterically and sharing their hilarious thoughts about the incident. “Annick is a great broadcaster but this is clearly the greatest job he’s ever done! Congratulations John!!!!shouted one user on Twitter.
Another fan saw it as a missed opportunity to masterfully deliver one of the UFC’s most prominent sponsors. “I can’t believe he missed an opportunity to come up to tell you of his modelo. “
One Twitter user even plans to use it as a parenting opportunity. “Thanks @Jon_Anik for giving me this to show my son, regarding what happens when you lean back in your seat! “
But for our money, the winner is the official Twitter account for Annick and Florian Podcast.
Jon Anik will return to the call Saturday night at VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena for UFC Jacksonville, headlining a high-stakes featherweight main event featuring interim UFC championship challenger Josh Emmett and Ilia Topuria. In the co-main event of the evening, fan favorite Amanda Ribas will return for a flyweight bout against Maycee Barber. Both women will be looking to work their way up the rankings in hopes of securing a title fight in the future.
Lightweight heavyweight mainstay Neil Magney will be back in action again, sparring with Phil Rowe in the feature preliminary bout.
