UConn men’s basketball coach Dan Hurley has gone big time.
How long you may ask? Well, the President of the United States called, and Hurley didn’t answer. He was too busy talking to a Class of 2024 recruit.
It was an accident, of course, he said Athlete Dana O’Neal.
“It doesn’t show up on your caller ID, like Joe Biden,” Hurley told The Athletic. “I just assumed that when the President calls you, there will be someone to interrupt your call and say, ‘The Chief is on the line.’ So yeah, I’m on the phone with a ’24 recruiter I’ve never seen and I miss a call from the President of the United States. But I got a voicemail. ”
Hurley didn’t entirely miss his chance to meet the President, as the team was invited to celebrate their national title at the White House. The date of the event has not been announced.

“(UConn) returned to glory with a string of dominant, often unbelievable performances,” Biden tweeted after UConn’s title game victory over San Diego State. “Congratulations to the team on building a program set to build on that success.”
Hurley didn’t specify which class of 2024 recruit he was talking to when Biden called, but it’s clear that kind of dedication to the job is one of the reasons he was able to bring the Huskies back to national fame.
