The UConn men’s basketball program had two Class of 2024 commits sign their national letters of intent on Wednesday, the first day of the early signing period for high school seniors.
The team shared on social media that Ahmad Nowell and Isaiah Abraham, who each announced their commitment to the Huskies in July, made it official.
“The staff did a tremendous job putting this class together and we are excited to add two terrific young men to our program. Isaiah and Ahmad embody the attributes we preach every day and will be a tremendous fit to our championship culture here in Storrs,” head coach Dan Hurley said in a release.
Nowell, a 6-foot-1 combo guard from Philadelphia, is a four-star recruit ranked 30th in the class by 247Sports and 33rd by ESPN. He helped win back-to-back Pennsylvania state championships at Imhotep Charter, where he was teammates with Justin Edwards, ESPN’s No. 3 prospect in the Class of 2023 who is now a freshman at Kentucky.
“Ahmad brings the kind of hard-nosed Philly toughness that will fit perfectly with the culture we have established here at UConn,” Hurley said. “He is a powerful guard who can shoot, drive and score through contact, as well as be an aggressive on-ball defender. He’s a winning player that we expect to be an important part of our program as we go after future championships.”

Abraham, a four-star 6-7 forward from Gainesville, Virginia, is ranked 72nd in his class by 247Sports and 81st by ESPN. Playing at high school hoops power Paul VI, his coach Glenn Farello told The Courant that Abraham “carries himself in the right way” and became a part of the fabric of the school. On the AAU circuit, Abraham won 17U Nike Peach Jam title this summer with Team Takeover.
“We’re really excited about Isaiah, he’s a great kid from an awesome family. Zay has played for some terrific coaches both at the grassroots and the high school level. He brings big-time athleticism and versatility on the perimeter. He has the potential to be a positionless, two-way player thanks to his immense upside,” Hurley said. “We cannot wait to bring Isaiah and his championship pedigree to Storrs.”

After signing five players that made up the No. 4 recruiting class in the nation for the Class of 2023, UConn’s Class of 2024 signees are currently ranked 26th by 247Sports.
The early signing period begins Wednesday and runs through Nov. 15. High school seniors who don’t sign during this window are able to do so during the regular period, which is in the spring from April 17 through May 15.
