Two-time Australian Open golf champion Frank Phillips, who also won tournaments in Singapore and Kong Kong, died in a statement on Wednesday. He was 90 years old.
PGA Australia said Phillips died Tuesday at a nursing home in Bowral, south of Sydney, where he had lived for the past few years.
Phillips has won 23 tournaments all over the world including two Australian Opens – 1957 in Kingston Heath and 1961 in Victoria, both in Melbourne. He also won the New South Wales Open five times, the Singapore Open and the Hong Kong Open.
He played in the Masters twice, at the US Open and The Open Championship, finishing 12th at St Andrews in 1964.
