Pine Valley will host the Amateur Curtis Cup matches in 2034, marking the first time the course considered America’s finest has hosted an international competition in nearly 50 years.
Wednesday’s announcement adds to a move by the USGA to bring its women’s championships to storied courses. This week, the US Women’s Open will be held in Pebble Beach for the first time.
Golf Digest has ranked Pine Valley the No. 1 golf course in America every year since 2017, and most years before that. The course is located across from Philadelphia in New Jersey, sole design by George Crump.
Pine Valley, which only allowed female members two years earlier, hosted the Walker Cup in 1936 and 1985. The Walker Cup (men’s) and Curtis Cup are modeled after the Ryder Cup, a series of matches between amateurs from the United States, Britain, and Ireland.
“We are committed to bringing our championships to the best golf courses in the country, and over the past several years, that commitment has only strengthened for our women’s championships,” said USGA CEO Mike Wan.
This year’s Curtis Cup will be held in Sunningdale, England. Future locations include Bel-Air in Los Angeles (2026) and National Golf Links in New York (2030).
