LAS VEGAS, NV — Although UFC flyweight Tim Elliot had a big fight on his hands against Victor Altamirano at UFC Vegas 74 Saturday night, most of the talk was about his personal life, something he says helped him.
“I’ve had a lot of support I guess you could say. I’m not happy or sad about it. I felt like it was something I had to do (share with the world). Again it wasn’t to take a stab at anyone. It’s more about that,” Elliott told reporters Wednesday. my personal issues.
“It helped at the time of finding out.”
Elliott shared the news that his ex-wife Gina Mazzani, a former UFC fighter, allegedly cheated on him on his wedding day with former training partner and current UFC fighter Kevin Crum, and any headlines related to Elliott have been made in the past two weeks.
When Elliott found out it affected his mental and physical health he also shared with reporters.
“When I first left for Texas I was cruising at 128 pounds. Can’t finish training without getting injured. I was weak. Just here the other day I was 152, so I’m back in weight. My spirits are back, and I’m already capable of being a good partner.” In training and a teammate, which is important to me.”
Pushing himself by sharing the news on social media was something that ended up helping Elliot get through the whole situation.
“It was really (helpful). The thing is, I was the only one who wore it. My ex and the guy she’s with now were living in my city dating, and they were cool, and everyone thought we broke up because… I don’t know she said I wanted to force her to move in Tx. Or she said we broke up because… I don’t even know the reasons.
“But the reasons weren’t the real reasons. Then I would come into my city, where I live, where my home is, and people would say to me ‘I heard Jenna broke up because of this’ and then in every interview they would ask me ‘How’s Jenna doing?'” how are you guys’?”
Rather than put it all out there at the time Elliot chose to protect his and her privacy as well.
“I was lying and making excuses to protect these guys, and every time I did it hurt me. After I got out nobody asked me anymore. I was pounding. I couldn’t be a good dad, and I felt like I wasn’t a great person before.”
“I felt like I wasn’t a great fighter before, but I never felt like I wasn’t a great father. So that was something I had to change for myself and I had to change for the sake of my daughter. After releasing it and having a bunch of support, I’m fine. I feel like I’m back to normal.” once again “.
