AT&T Byron Nelson This week is the last PGA Tour event before the second major race of the year, and we’re picking a one-time Tour winner to be our long pick. Here’s our pick, favorite AT&T betting Byron Nelson and everything else you need to know for this week.
AT&T Byron Nelson odds: A long-run bet
For this week’s AT&T Byron Nelson we have our money long on veteran JJ Spaun at +6600 winning odds.
Spoon is in the midst of a second straight season of solid play. Last year, he earned his first tour win at the Valero Texas Open in the same state as this week’s tournament.
So far in 2022-23, Spaun has made 13 of 18 cuts and has collected two Top 10s.
Byron Nelson is a low-scoring event, as KH Lee brought back the title last year with 26 fewer points. Spoon finished his T38 at 15-under last year and has shown he can perform well at the Bird Festival, finishing 15-under or better in three tournaments so far this season.
If you put $10 on Spaun to win and withdraw it, you win a cool $660. For an insurance bet or a less risky bet, put some money on Spaun for a top 10 or top 20 finish.
How did the long shot work last week
At last week’s Wells Fargo Championship, a particular event, we picked Sahith Theegala as a long way to his first win on the PGA Tour at +4000 odds of winning.
During one run, everything was going according to plan. Theegala opened with a four-under 67 on Thursday at Quail Hollow to move close to the top of the leaderboard. But he could not summon the same level of play the rest of the week, closing with rounds of 74, 71 and 73 to finish with one out in a tie for 56th.
