Undisputed lightweight champion Islam Makhachev has once again called out to be at the top of the official men’s pound-for-pound rankings after his February win and title defense, wondering how the heavyweight can sit at the top of the heap.
Makhachev, the current undisputed lightweight champion, most recently titled at UFC 284 back in February in Perth, Australia – landing his first successful defense of the 155-pound championship with a unanimous decision victory over featherweight champ, Aleksandr Volkanovsky.
After winning a vacant lightweight bantamweight title in October last year in Abu Dhabi, UAE in the main event of UFC 280, Makhakala’s compatriot, Makhachev outlived former undisputed champion, Charles Oliveira with a second-round win in a triangle.
