The American Communities Association announced 84 players who are currently on the field to participate in the major tournament that will be held next month in Los Angeles Country Club, and Tiger Woods did not participate in it because he is recovering from leg surgery.
Woods had surgery in April for post-traumatic arthritis in his right ankle caused by injuries he suffered in a car wreck in February 2021.
He played in the Masters before surgery, and made the cut, but missed the PGA Championship last week. It remains without a return schedule.
The USGA said Monday that 33 additional golfers have received full exemptions for the third season major, scheduled to be played June 15-18. Those now exempted on the basis of being in the top 60 in the Official World Golf Ranking as of Monday include Jason Day (No. 22), Patrick Reid (No. 44) and Terrell Hatton (No. 18).
