With Adama Sanogo and Jordan Hawkins gone to the NBA Draft, Nahiem Alleyne to the transfer gate, and Joey Calcaterra, who is out of action, UConn’s men’s national basketball team will have a different look in 2023-24. Here’s what your starting lineup and rotation could look like:
The starting lineup
Stefon Castle Guard: The 6-foot-6 point guard from Georgia can get development while serving as the spot starter.
Goalkeeper Tristen Newton: The move from East Carolina had a huge impact on UConn as the starting point guard. If he returns for another year, he could play a bigger role in scoring.
Guard/Forward, Andre Jackson Jr.: A captain and versatile athlete, Jackson could decide to test the NBA waters, but he seemed determined as an old-school four-year college player. He would anchor UConn’s defense as a senior.
Striker Alex Karaban: The impressive and sharp forward returns as a sophomore to continue his development.
Centre, Donovan Clingan: The 7-1 Bristol Central graduate should have no problem getting minutes, and developing as an NBA prospect next year.
off the bench
Freshmen: G Solomon Ball, F Jaylin Stewart, F Jaylen Ross, C Youssouf Singare complete a highly rated incoming class.
Sophomore players: Yaren Hasson, Apostolos Romoglu.
Third Year: Samson Johnson, if he returns, could get his chance on the front court.
will come later: Find a shooter to come from the transport portal to replace Calcaterra as a specialist.
