A few weeks after the decision was made to fire Kyle Dubas, it looks like the Toronto Maple Leafs will soon have a new general manager.
All indications are that the Leafs have hired former Calgary Flames general manager Brad Treleving, according to a report by TSN’s Darren Dreger. He posted this earlier tonight on Twitter:
“We updated the Toronto Maple Leafs GM search earlier tonight with Insider Trading. More specifically, all signs now point to the search wrapping up in the very near future with Brad Treliving being named the new GM.”
The 53-year-old British Columbia native joined the Flames in April 2014 as their general manager, a position he held until the end of this season. During his tenure in Calgary, they reached the playoffs five times, which included two post-season victories over the Vancouver Canucks (2015) and Dallas Stars (2022), respectively.
He was a founding member of the Western Professional League and later served as assistant general manager to Don Maloney of the Phoenix Coyotes.
Other possibilities the Leafs explored included Jason Bottrell, Mark Bergevin, and Peter Chiarelli.
