In the end, the New York Rangers couldn’t change a season of patterns. In the end, it was another loss, buoyed by another poor effort in an important match. On Monday Night, Akira Schmid made 31 saves in a 4-0 win for the New Jersey Devils to win Game 7.
The Rangers were shut out in game five by the same score, 4-0.
So much for rebuilding.
After a scoreless first period, Michael McLeod scored a shorthanded goal midway through the second period to give New Jersey a 1-0 lead.
Thomas Tatar scored the goal 15:39 out to extend the lead to 2-0.
The Rangers’ poor effort made those two goals more than enough for New Jersey to get the win.
For good measure, Eric Hola scored 15 minutes into the third to take a 3-0 lead.
Jesper Pratt scored an empty net late in the final 4-0.
Igor Shesterkin made 21 saves in the loss.
If this doesn’t cost people jobs then there is no hope for this Rangers organization.
