GREENVILLE, South Carolina – Three unanswered goals by the Greenville Swamp Rabbits set the stage for a 3-1 victory over the Jacksonville Icemen Friday night at Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Game 4 of the South Division Semifinals.
After the game began with an aggressive attack by the Swamp Bunnies, the Ice broke the deadlock at 13:43, as Matt Iacobelli sprinted to the wing for the second part of the series.
Greenville tied the game in the second period when, at 13:51, Joe Leahy scored his first professional goal against Jacksonville.
Early in the third period, the Swamp Rabbits captured their first lead of the game, as Carter Schush’s shot rebounded to Ben Freeman, who scored his second of the series with only 2:21 into that period. Soon after, at 3:35, Justin Knatchbour scored his first goal of the series to give the Swamp Rabbits a 3-1 lead.
Greenville goaltender Ryan Bednard made 11 saves in the third period, stopping 22 of Jacksonville’s 23 chances for their second win of the series.
Grenville level Swamp Rabbits win the Icemen 2-2 in the best-of-seven Southern Division semi-finals.
The Swamp Rabbits and Icemen meet again at Bon Secours Wellness Arena on Saturday, April 29, for Game 5. A puck landing is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
