Per Sean Shapiro (unrelated) The NY Rangers’ first-round series against the NJ Devils will begin Tuesday night with Game 1 at the Prudential Center. The second game will be Thursday night. There’s no word on when Game 3 will be released, at least not yet. The entire schedule will likely be announced over the weekend or after the last two games of the NHL season conclude tonight.
The Rangers will be at MSG for Games 3 and 4, which if you stick to a every other day schedule, it puts them into Saturday and Monday. The wrinkle is that Saturday night will be Billy Joel’s concert at MSG. They can move the concert around, which is at least part of the warning process with Billy Joel’s spring concerts. Or they could have the Rangers play the afternoon game.
The risk with the latter option is a long game that stretches into multiple overtimes, limiting when a change on crew must turn MSG into a concert arena by the 8 p.m. show. It’s a tough spot for the Rangers, as the Knicks end Billy Joel’s show with Friday night and Sunday afternoon games.
