In the heart of Los Angeles, host city of this year’s US Open at Los Angeles Country Club, flashy cars are the norm. But if there’s one vehicle that’s guaranteed to turn heads this June, it’s Dewar’s trick-or-treat beverage cart, which will be serving up samples of the brand’s limited-edition 19-year-old US Open blends and more all week long.
“The idea was to find a new way to introduce new consumers to the brand,” says Brian Cox, vice president, Dewar Scotch Whiskey, North America. “And that’s why we came up with the golf cart. It’s mobile and a great way to bring whiskey to our customers, partners and event guests.”
Although the Dewar’s cart—a custom-built Garia, Danish maker of luxury golf carts—is perfectly legal and capable of traveling up to 60 mph, it’s rarely driven, except for short distances once on site. . Instead, the cart is moved from one place to another via the truck. The car calls St. Louis, home, and started traveling across the country for select events and activities last year. To date, her outing highlights include both the Super Bowl and the Masters. During his visit to Los Angeles in June, he will be stationed at Westfield Century City as part of the USGA Fan Showcase.
Dewar’s tour director Geoffrey Pearce is the man in charge of escorting the camper on all of its engagements. He drives the truck, sets up the cart, stocks it with what the local market orders—usually Dewar 12, Dewar 15 or Dewar 19—and then hangs around while people enjoy the bounty.
“You can have all the looks and looks everywhere you go,” Pearce says of the camper. “Everyone wants to drive it.”
If you happen to hit the Dewar bandwagon while out and about in the coming months—perhaps at the US Open—take time to enjoy the experience.
“The cart is really a way to provide the perfect service,” says Cox. “So the first meeting of someone with a taste for Dewar’s or a Dewar’s highball of scotch and soda is the best it can be.”

With a surround speaker system, a hidden premium serving station, and a high-velocity faucet that serves up fresh, cold, highly carbonated soda water (thanks to an internal cooling system), Dewar’s custom bar cart is the ultimate party starter. The golf mat rolls out for a fun challenge: If you can sink three times in 10 attempts, you’ll score a handful of golf balls. And if you fall short? You can still pocket brand tees and ball marker as parting gifts.
Dewar-branded swag, like these Callaway Supersoft golf balls, has its own distributor.
Attendees of the USGA Fan Showcase can sample Dewar’s version of the 19-year-old US Open. First released in 2021 for the US Open at Torrey Pines, this combination marks the third iteration of the year. In a nod to US Open host state California, the 2023 edition is finished in former red wine barrels from Napa Valley.
