The past few months have certainly been interesting for the Dallas Cowboys. When you compare this off-season to the next, things feel a little day and night. A year ago we were all lamenting the departure of Amari Cooper, Randy Gregory and Lyle Collins, while in our present moment we celebrate the arrival of Stephon Gilmour and Brandine Cox among others.
Needless to say a lot has happened since the Cowboys season ended at the hands of a team San Francisco 49ers (once again). As summer continues, we’re taking a look back at the notable things that happened through the lens and post of something that can’t be discussed…the alphabet!
Here’s the story of the offseason and a look at what we’re all hoping to bring this year using each letter as a jumping off point.
A: Another year in which the drought is still alive
We’ve obviously been waiting a very long time for the Cowboys to get to someone else NFC Championship A game, I hope you win, leads to another power and lifted the sixth Lombardy Trophy for the franchise. It’s weird to think that it’s been nearly 30 years and that at the time of Super Bowl XXX, the team has held five of them and appeared in eight.
B: Great expectations for the time
Although the drought is still alive and well, the Cowboys are looking to reach the playoffs for the third year in a row this season. Mind you, it’s been 15 years since they’ve had a chance to do this. We don’t need to talk about how that ended.
A: Tournament moves
The theme is alive and well with the Cowboys understanding that they have to be a little more daring than they have been in the past. The Gilmore and Cooks acquisitions are proof that they’re finally getting it.
D: Defense leads the way
When was the last time the Cowboys defense was out? To this limit Before offending your mind in terms of trustworthiness? It was accurate.
E: empty words
You may have seen (again) that the Cowboys home building uses canopies for non-football stuff in the off-season. But during Sunday afternoons, the glow will be there for all of us (specifically the players) to see. sigh.
F: For the first time in forever
Oops, borrow a line from frozen But for the first time in the quarterback forever, Dak Prescott won’t have Jason Jarrett or his former head coach on his ear after Kellen Moore left this season. We are now entering uncharted territory.
G: giddy
You know, because they’re cowboys.
H: Hip Hip!
Three cheers to the Cowboys front office who acted so insistently this season, Am I Right?
We could also have used ‘whoop’ here instead, but I suppose you’d say that out loud.
Iniesta: I’ll be honest here
And to say that “I” is very difficult. Let’s go. Nothing to watch.
J: Galen Tolbert
The thing I’ve been thinking (others have noticed similar things) is that if Jalen Tolbert is a misfit player on the Cowboys this year, it could be one of the most game-changing things to happen to the team in general sense. Fingers crossed.
K: King of possession
No matter how many times I tell myself that I know this to be true, it’s hard to believe that Dak Prescott is the NFL’s tallest continental player. This remark obviously means nothing, but the time to capitalize on continued strong play in the most important position in the game is now for the organization as a whole.
L: Las Vegas!
Home Super Bowl LVIII.
M: Micah Parsons
Our young lion has done a great job of talking this season about how insignificant individual awards are, but this is a season Defensive Player of the Year, right? Again, we all admit that’s not the main goal, but it feels unavoidable.

N: New
As mentioned above, the Cowboys are going in a new direction on offense and thus the longest serving starting quarterback in the NFL in Dak Prescott. There are a lot of skeptical Mike McCarthy out there, but this season, that very one, is why he’s set if we break it down. The Cowboys brought in someone with a Super Bowl-winning pedigree as an offensive mind. Time to see it in action.
Q: Optimism
At one point this month I was chatting with a friend and I said that this is the most cowboy optimism I’ve felt about June in a very long time. I realize that, like a lot of little things, this doesn’t mean anything, but isn’t it interesting?
In general, we had reason to doubt the cowboys in June. We didn’t this year.
P: Please
We very well ask the Cowboys to take care of all pending contract cases involving a large number of players with different situations: Dak Prescott, Sir Lamb, Trevon Diggs, Terrence Steele, Tyler Biadas.
Q: Question
Speaking of the latter two and their combination, the biggest question anyone faces right now is what the offensive line will look like in Week 1. We think we know, but what are they going to do?
R: Respect
We all know the Cowboys haven’t won a Super Bowl for a very long time. But this is a team that won at least 12 games each of the past two years, made the playoffs twice in a row and won a playoff game last season.
They are not trash.
S: Slow and steady
Sometimes NFL teams that fall short in a season attempt to right this wrong the following September and October. This is fine but it does nothing in the end.
The season seems far away but it will finally reach us at some point. It’s kind of like one week at a time. Cowboys can’t win (or lose) everything in one week or one month. Let’s do our best to remember to be patient.
T: time
Also just in time to put Jimmie Johnson in the Ring of Honor. past time. Well past.
U: under
At the time of this writing Our friends at DraftKings You have an over (-165) and under (+140) for the Cowboys at 9.5 and that’s pretty low for me.
The schedule is more difficult, and regression will come (both negative And Positive) but these are generally not regulated (outside of a major hit) bottoms like that.
Fifth: volcanic
Throughout the majority of this exercise I’ve said some very positive things about the Cowboys and I’m generally optimistic about them.
However…if things don’t go well. As if all goes well. There could be an explosion on the horizon.
W: Win
The final point of all this.
X: XXX
The last Super Bowl was won by the Cowboys (X really hard, everyone).
Yes
You can choose to believe in cowboys. decent. It won’t hurt (I hope it won’t).
Z: Zenith
Hopefully, that’s where we are with the 2023 Dallas Cowboys.
