The British Basketball League has brought hype, action and drama all season, but this week we’ve taken the game to new heights – atop The O2, London, in fact – with an exhibition dunk contest atop the capital’s famous landmark!
Brought to you by General Tire, at the top of The O2, Leicester Riders star and high-flyer Blake ‘The Showman’ Bowman takes the spotlight, recreating eight iconic adventures – one for each team in the post-season – from the epic regular season to mark the start of the playoffs.
Bowman is used to getting airborne on the basketball court, but he broke new ground this week when he took off from a platform 52m above The O2, with impressive results. We all remember Tajh Green’s amazing dunk off the backboard and Josh Sharma’s jam for the London Lions, but can you imagine what they looked like on top of The 02!? But this wasn’t just fun and games… Oh no, there was some serious rivalry and bragging rights, with a judging panel of Britain’s elite basketball experts on hand to render their verdict on which dunk team would be crowned champions. season’. Women’s league legend Siobhan Pryor, Behrad Bakhtiari, Denzel Kazembe of Simply British Ballers and Hoopsfix founder Sam Netter were on hand to evaluate the castings!
After eight awesome plunging recreations, it was Bowman’s very own mill that made it to the top, crowning them champions. British Basketball League “Now You Know” Dunk Challenge, brought to you by General Tyre.
The competition, hosted by one of the voices of British basketball, Taher Hajjat, celebrates another fantastic year for the British Basketball League, as it continues to take the game to new heights and highlight the appetite for basketball in the UK, building up the hype. Ahead of the season set for the play-off finals to be played at The O2 on Sunday 14 May.

An expected crowd of nearly 17,000 fans is expected to create an electric atmosphere inside The O2, with the main event of the British Basketball League to be broadcast live on Sky Sports. Fans around the world are also encouraged to vote for their favorites from the season using #BritishDunks and #NowYouKnow.
Only four teams are still standing and fighting for a chance to compete in the play-off finals in ten days. London Lions face Cheshire Phoenix, while Bristol Flyers battle last season’s champions Leicester Riders this week to try and book their tickets to the capital.
