You crush your irons but you top the hybrids. Sound familiar? Hybrids are unique and useful clubs, but they are different, and definitely lighter. The trick is to treat them as you would your irons, not your woods.
It starts with setup: Play the ball in the middle of your stance with the club sole flat on the floor. (Positioning the ball too far forward is what often leads to fat and/or overhead shots). Make sure you haven’t “covered” the front of the racquet by checking the alignment marks on your grip point straight down.
As far as swing goes, again, treat it like any iron shot. Stick to “hitting” the club on the ground, with your arms fully extended on impact and beyond. You should definitely take some grass as you hit the ball. Get that dirty hybrid!
While the club may feel light in your hands when heading, it feels heavy when you hit the ball.
