Is Nate Diaz about to get tooled bad when he hooks up with Jake Paul on August 5th in Dallas, Texas?
Such is the consensus coming from the boxing community that Matchroom Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn predicted that Diaz would not last four rounds against the younger and older Paul. There have also been some not-so-nice stories shared by boxers who feuded with Diaz. One of those came from Olympic silver medalist Esceva Falcao, who suggested that Nate had nothing but strength on his side – which is a nice way of saying he was a punching bag.
at recent days Interview on The MMA Hour, Nate Diaz’s friend Chris Avila came to Diaz’s defense regarding Falcao’s story.
Avila said, “Brother, this man got upset.” (via Boxing Scene). “Yeah, we just got back—we were in L.A. and we went to a boxing gym, this guy’s like a silver medalist from Brazil and whatever. He’s 30-0, he’s fighting for a world title next week…so Nate has a fight with This guy, he made 12 rounds. Dude, he got so good. He lost every round.
Then after that he immediately goes to the trainer, “Oh, I’m losing weight, and that’s why I don’t look very good.” Then you see on his site [Instagram] The story, it’s in Portuguese so we had someone translate – and he was talking -! The next day we came back and the coach was saying, “You want to spare you. So I had a fight with him, and then he lost every round again – and he still said go and talk some shit in Portuguese. But we didn’t know until after all the sparring.”
“Anyway, for this guy, and – that guy too.”
So who do we believe? Professional boxers who aren’t likely to give an MMA dude like Diaz credit if he works well against him? Or Diaz’s pals, who aren’t about to talk trash about their man? We’ll have to see what Nate Diaz can do in the ring on fight night against Jack Paul.
