It’s been a while since TaylorMade offered their TP (Tour Preferred) line of all-milled one-piece racquets, but refinement takes time, and with the launch of the new TP Reserve line, they’re establishing themselves in the market for high-end premium racquets.
When asked about the design process for the TP Reserve line, Bill Price, senior director of product creation for putters and wedges, said, “What we’re most proud of when it comes to this new line is the attention to detail, and I think golfers will appreciate that. From the compact transitions to the finish, even the pinpoint Graphics placement, we took our time to get everything right.”
“Thanks to the manufacturing process, we can emphasize every detail and be confident that the final product will be exactly what we want, strike after strike, which for us is the ultimate sign of craftsmanship.”
Now speaking of the instruments, the thing that separates the new TP Reserve line from TaylorMade’s pre-milled putters are the machined groves which went through multiple changes during the R&D phase to ensure they deliver a clear and concise impact sound.
Unlike some other racquets on the market that use a variable design throughout the face, the TP Reserve’s grooves are the same width and depth from top to bottom and across the surface to maintain the same feel regardless of strike location.
Forms
To help fit golfers, TaylorMade engineers designed four different mounting options with a combination of shaft and hose designs specifically designed to create different levels of toe suspension. These options are combined into three blade and three hammer shapes to suit almost any golfer for visual preference.
To make things easier for golfers and mechanics alike, each model is represented by the second number in the model name while the second number represents the type of hustle; No. 1 – L-neck, No. 3 – small oblique, No. 7 – single bend, No. 9 – flowing neck.
The models bring an improvement on classic putter files, including a mid-sized hammer and winged blade design to deliver a higher MOI in a more traditional shape. Both the M2 and M3 hammer come in two different hose configurations to give golfers the opportunity to match their alignment style to a shape that best suits their putt type.
