While it’s liberating to adopt the E-Caddy Lifestyle, it can also be a little intimidating and very pricey. The WiscoGolfAddict Electric Cans Buying Guide is a very useful resource for those entering the market, but it shows the huge number of available options and features to consider in a purchasing decision. With so many models in the four-figure price range, it’s crucial to make the right decisions to suit your preferences and needs to ensure your hard-earned dollars are used wisely.
Low-cost, non-remote-controlled models are a great way to dip your toes into the market to see if the electronic box lifestyle works for you, without spending a fortune. Best known for its accessory-rich, remote-controlled Pro model, the Super E-Caddy recently added The Weekender to its product line, its first foray into this essential corner of the market.
While testing the Weekender on the course this spring, I was deeply impressed with its usability, simplicity, and reliability. As someone who is less tech-savvy and prefers simplicity on the course, I think I’ve found the e-case just right for me and I’m excited to use it regularly this season to keep my physique on a leisurely road.
Features and functions
The Weekender’s job can be summed up in two terms – basic and easy. A central dial controls power and speed, and it’s easy to adjust as you walk to your natural pace. The model maintains a constant speed and a very straight line, enabling touchless walking over long distances of the property. The model does not steer independently, but turns easily by hand.
When you use The Weekender, your focus will be where you belong – on your golf game and your playing partners – not on arguing with your electronic caddy.
Check out our YouTube video on The Weekender, which demonstrates its versatility on moderate terrain:
The Weekender also features preset distance controls, which will move your bag and stop at a desired point at a set distance. Three options are available – 15, 30 and 45 meters. This can be especially useful after you’ve reached a green box or tee and have sent your e-box to a convenient location to meet up with later. Just be careful not to point your bag at a tree, hazard, or large cliff, as the feature only works well on a straight line and it doesn’t have obstacle avoidance features.
The Weekender is smaller and lighter than other electronic cases I’ve seen, and folds up nicely to ensure it fits in smaller spaces or boxes.
My cart bag fit the Weekender perfectly, and two bungee cord straps ensure it stays snug throughout the tour. The size, weight and dimensions of the model are ideal for quick setup, allowing you to spend more precious minutes warming up before the ride.
While the base model doesn’t come with any other bells and whistles, accessories are available for purchase separately, including a drink holder, umbrella, golf towel, and scorecard holder.
Collection and shipment
The Weekender comes mostly pre-assembled, and the instructions make it easy to set up in a few minutes. Its battery has a capacity of at least 18 slots per charge, but it’s important to plug it in and fully recharge it between uses. After testing the model, I made the mistake of leaving the battery connected to the unit before my first run with it, and it ran out of power after nine punctures. While the unpowered Weekender was as easy to operate as a wheelbarrow, it’s best to start with a full charge to ensure the battery lasts a full cycle.
pricing
At a discount of $650, minus Exclusive 5% discount for WiscoGolfAddict (WISCO discount code), the Weekender is quite a bargain considering its exceptional performance. On top of that, a one-year warranty comes with standard purchases.
For those who want to experience the electronic enclosure lifestyle but don’t agonize over the remote control, tech follow-up or array of features and accessories, I think the Weekender’s value and performance are excellent for its price.
