26-year-old Johnny Walker is Dundee manager Marc Lefebvre’s latest new boss in the 2023/24 All-Star squad.
The forward comes from the NFL’s Utah Grizzlies, where he has accumulated 22 points in 44 games.
Born in Phoenix, Arizona, Walker spent five years at Arizona State University in the NCAA before heading to the coast. He is the Sun Dogs’ all-time leading scorer in terms of goals (70), points (123), and game-winning goals (8).
“We’re excited to have Johnny, he’s a very motivated guy and after speaking with him on the phone and doing my research on him, he’s a perfect fit for our organization,” LeFebvre said. “He brings a little bit of everything into our squad, he has some skill, he plays with that attitude that we’re kind of looking for in our roster.
“We want players who are going to go into the trenches and fight for pucks, get into that stuff after the whistle and we want to be a tough team to play against and make those games difficult for everyone.
“I want a team full of these kinds of guys, I’d rather have a guy that I maybe have to put a leash on a little bit on sometimes, who walks that far and sometimes crosses that line. I’d rather have them over some guys that I have to tap and tell to move on, because I want guys who are energetic and ready to play every night and bring something to the game.”
