over the past several years, golf ClubTest relied heavily on human and robot testing to gain insights into the latest equipment. As we’ve discussed in the past, both can coexist in the testing space and serve a valuable purpose when trying to ascertain whether a club is worth pursuing.
A bot can provide unbiased data—especially when you use the industry’s first independent source—that cuts through the noise and delivers the meaningful feedback golfers crave. Golfers deliver the club differently, but when you have a bot that delivers the club the same way every time, it makes it easier to spruce up clubs with the fastest ball velocity or clear fade bias on an even course.
Of course, the robot will struggle to provide meaningful feedback on characteristics that only a human can pick up on—look, sound, feel. And those are the things that usually seal a deal with the club, if we’re being completely honest.
Since ClubTest added automated testing into the equation, my listeners golf Fully equipped The podcast reached out to ask if she should weigh in on the bot or player who tests more during the club’s research. As co-host Ryan Barath points out on this week’s episode, data is only part of the selection process.
“You, the consumer, own your money,” said Parath. And you can spend it however you want. You can pick any brand or club you want and put it in your bag. You are not tied to one brand by any means. So because you can do that, you can do your own personal testing. This is where consumer testing is important. Very. But you can use the bot data as a base to help jump-start the decision-making process.”
In other words, don’t think that bot data will solve all your problems. Some clubs may perform well on a bot, but they may produce a sound that’s too loud for your liking or a profile that just doesn’t suit your eye. Testing a bot and gamers together can help you narrow the field of potential suitors to a manageable number. It’s peanut butter and jelly.
From there, it’s up to you to make the final call. With operator and bot data at your fingertips, it has never been easier to select the best options for testing.
