Welterweights Sean Brady and Jack Della Maddalena have agreed to meet at UFC 290, which is scheduled for July 8 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
Several people familiar with the promotion’s plans confirmed the news to MMA Fighting on Sunday after an initial report about bookings in Twitter.
Brady is looking to recover from the first loss of his career after falling to Bilal Muhammad last October, which halted his 15-fight unbeaten streak. Prior to this loss, Brady had five straight wins in the Ultimate Fighting Championship, including victories over Michael Chiesa and Jake Matthews.
As for Della Maddalena, the Rivals series The veteran has looked unstoppable since joining the UFC roster, racking up four straight wins and ending all of his fights with a first-round knockout or submission. Recently, Della Maddalena dispatched Randy Brown with a rear choke at UFC 284 in his hometown of Perth, Australia.
Della Maddalena is now stepping up in contention to fight Brady in a welterweight fight joining the growing line-up at UFC 290, which also includes a pair of title fights as Aleksander Volkanovski looks to unify the featherweight championship in a bout with Yair Rodriguez while Brandon Moreno puts down the flyweight belt to catch Alexandre Pantoja.
