The highly rated 7-foot-1 John Paul was selected to join the Southeastern Conference (SEC).
Named the 29th player in the class of 2024, Paul, who hails from Bel Air, Kansas, and plays for Sunrise Christian and MoKan Elite, has announced his commitment to Todd Golden and the Florida Gators. Paul expressed his admiration for Gainesville and the team’s style of play, but in the end, the impression Golden made was that he sealed the deal. Paul had the opportunity to observe training during his visit and was impressed with the way Golden worked with his players.
“I’m going to the University of Florida,” Paul said. “It’s a good program and it’s really right for me. Ultimately my goal is to make the NBA and I feel like being in Florida is what works best for me. SEC, how do they play there, the style of play is such that I feel if I go there, I’m going to be successful and achieve My goal is in the end.

Paul will continue to improve
Although Paul is currently skinny and will need to gain weight, he brings a lot to the table. He is one of the more mobile big men in his class, displaying impressive speed on the court. His shot-blocking ability is top-notch, and Paul poses a huge threat as a lob target. Paul has shown steady improvement in his overall skill level, which is a testament to the excellent training he received at the high school level. He’s actively expanding his game to be more effective once he’s on the Gators’ program.

“Coach Todd, he’s a young but really experienced coach, he’s a really good guy and a really good coach,” said Paul. “There are so many things I love about him. I love the way he talks and I really like the way he coaches. I’ve been there for a couple of practices and he’s been there with the guys and active. He’s not just on the bench screaming what to do. He’s also He shows them what to do and how to do it. He’s a really good guy and I think he’ll be able to help me.”
