Shawn Strickland made the most of his time in front of members of the media ahead of his appearance at UFC Vegas 76 on Saturday night.
Strickland is set to main event with relative newcomer Abus Magomedov inside APEX this weekend. Before the main match, “Tarzan” makes his presence known at the UFC Vegas 76 media eventand delivering another one of his unique observations that usually feel almost sarcastic while being sinister.
“We need to get back to getting women out of the workforce. That’s probably where we hit it off, guys,” Strickland said. “We’re letting women vote. I don’t mean to belittle you. I want to tell you guys something. Think America before women vote. Try to ban alcohol. I don’t drink, but I don’t try to cut back on alcohol. What you did man, you let these women into the workforce. Now we make less money. You’ve got kids raising themselves on f*cking TikTok.
He continued, “We need to go back to 1942. Maybe 1958 after we beat the Germans.” “We need to get women back in the kitchen. One man just needs to work. I think we as a collective group of men, we need to elect someone who is going to put women back in the kitchen, put one man to work, raise the wages, build the wall.”
Shawn Strickland’s latest rant is just another example of what makes him such a memorable figure in the mixed martial arts world. Whether or not this is a good thing depends on who you talk to.
Tarzan’ is 2-2 in his last four matches, picking up wins over Jack Hermansson and Nasuruddin Imavov while losing to Jared Cannonier and former world middleweight champion Alex Pereira. Overall, Sean Strickland sits 13-5 inside the Octagon and is currently ranked #7 in the divisional rankings. On Saturday night, he will face an unranked fighter in his second appearance for the promotion.
