Sean O’Malley gave his thoughts on a potential UFC middleweight showdown between Israel’s Adesanya and Dricus du Plessis.
Next month, Dricus du Plessis will take on Robert Whitaker in the biggest fight of his career to date. Of course, the real goal of the game is to earn a shot against Israel Adesanya for the UFC Middleweight Championship. Adesanya is expected back in September as he tries to stay on top of the mountain at 185lbs.
Dricos du Plessis, meanwhile, wasn’t shy when discussing his feelings about the hero. Between notes of his African heritage and claims that he had been roughed up in training, nothing was left of him without turning him around.

In Sean O’Malley’s mind, though, the grappling exchanges of the past won’t matter much when you get into the Octagon.
“The thing about that, from a long time ago, doesn’t matter,” O’Malley said. “Especially if it’s just grappling, or just kickboxing…it doesn’t necessarily translate into a fight, into a cage, into that big moment when you guys fight. Maybe Eazy was just boxing.” [at the time]so I don’t think much of it, I think he smokes DDP.”
