Ryan Garcia released a statement after suffering the first loss of his career at the hands of Gervonta Davis.
Garcia and Davis put their undefeated records to the test this evening at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
Ryan Garcia (23-1 boxing) returned to action for the first time since July last year, scoring a sixth-round knockout win over Javier Fortuna. Nineteen of King Ryan’s twenty-three career victories have come by knockout/TKO.
Meanwhile, reigning world lightweight champion Gervonta Davis (29-0 for boxing) was looking to win his 27th knockout this evening in Sin City. Tank’s last competition was in January, where he picked up a pinfall victory over Hector Garcia.
Tonight’s boxing match between Davis and Garcia proves to be an upcoming party for Tank. Gerfonta was able to knock Ryan down with jabs left in the second round and then ended the fight in the seventh with a bad body shot (see that here).
Official result: Gervonta defeated Davis. Ryan Garcia via TKO (body shot) at 1:44 of round 7
Shortly after tonight’s DAZN pay-per-view event wrapped, “King Ry” moved to Twitter As he issued the following elegant statement on his first career defeat.
“Nothing beats fighting one of the best players! We hope one day we can restart it! 🔥👑 Garcia commented on a photo of himself with Tanks
