A rematch between Raquel Pennington and Erin Aldana will serve as the main event of UFC Fight Night on May 20.
On Tuesday, the promotion announced its heavyweight pairing — initially rumored to be for the UFC on ESPN 43 in San Antonio. UFC Fight Night takes place at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, and the entire card will air on ESPN+. Pennington and Aldana made their UFC debut on ESPN 4 in July 2019, with Pennington winning via split decision.
Bennington is currently on a five bout winning streak in UFC competition. The former bantamweight title challenger made it through to her first draft of 2023, taking a split reign against Caitlin Vieira at UFC Fight Night 217 on January 14. Her current run also includes wins over the likes of Aspen Ladd, Macy Chiasson, Pannie Kianzad and Marion Reno.
Meanwhile, Aldana has been victorious in four of her last five octagon starts. The Lobo Gym MMA representative has had finals in three of those rounds, scoring KO/TKO wins over Chiasson, Kunitskaya and Vieira.
A few more contests have been confirmed for this event: Orion Cosé vs. Gilbert Urbina at Welterweight. Andre Fialho vs Joaquin Buckley Welterweight. Chase Hopper vs Nick Fury at Welterweight and Natalia Silva vs Victoria Leonardo at Flyweight.
