cArolyn Crickmore has lived in Arkansas and Texas long enough for her golf exploits to be inducted into the Sports Halls of Fame in both states. But the US amateur champion in 2004 moved to Florida nearly four years ago.
“I woke up one morning about two years before I moved and thought, ‘Are you going to die in Dallas?'” said Crickmore, 71. Now while you’re young enough to make friends, have a life, and do some stuff.”
A native of Fort Smith, Arkansas, Crickmore came to the Sunshine State after more than 30 years in Texas with her own form of vitamin D: her sense of humor and outlook on life.
Not only did the transplant belong to her but her family as well. She had two sisters who lived in Ponte Vedra Beach, where her family had vacationed since the 1970s, and a brother and wife who lived there part-time.
