According to David Pagnotta of The 4th Period, the Washington Capitals are exploring ways to move from the eighth overall pick in the 2023 NHL Draft, which takes place at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville on Wednesday.
The three snaps made in front of them are owned by the Montreal Canadiens (No. 5), Arizona Coyotes (No. 6), and Philadelphia Flyers (No. 7).
Washington may be looking to draft popular right winger Matvey Michkov, who scored 10 goals and 14 points in 12 VHL games and nine goals and 20 points in 27 ACL games during the 2022-23 season.
Scout Meshkov, who has three years left on his KHL contract, had a rise to second overall but refused to talk to the team in hopes of controlling where he goes. Even so, he reportedly spoke with Philadelphia recently.
Other mock drafts have Washington taking center Dalibor Dvorski, right winger Ryan Leonard, center Oliver Moore, fullback David Reinbacher, and left winger Zack Benson.
